I also offer lessons in Practical Musicianship. This is another ABRSM exam
For this exam I'd recommend an extra 15 minutes per week — you can work on Practical Musicianship alongside your piano lessons, gradually building up to Grade 5, then take the exam.
If you are already at Grade 4 standard on any instrument, you could go faster. With an extra half an hour a week of musicianship we would plan to take the Grade 5 musicianship exam in 6 months. Here's the link to the ABRSM website: Practical Musicianship
“The course has been perfect for [my son], he really took to it, and found it far more fun, motivating and useful than doing music theory. He is now much more amenable to doing theory too which I hadn't expected!” (Parent of Practical Musicianship student)
“I got much better at transposing and
improvising in different ways, and I think it helped my general
musical ability as well.” (Student, Practical
Musicianship)
